Meet the Titleist 2012 AP2 Irons

The Titleist AP2are multi-material, dual cavity irons that take the design mission of "Advanced Performance You Can Feel" to new heights. The concept for the original Advanced Performance irons arose as a result of research that indicated serious golfers want performance with great feel, not performance at the expense of feel.

And the integrated aluminum and soft elastomer Tuned Feel System in the back cavity improves sound and feel at impact. A soft, forged carbon steel body with a high density tungsten nickel sole .

The Titleist R&D team's advanced research group has been conducting extensive sound and vibration analysis aimed at reducing the harsh lower frequency vibration that causes poor feel in irons. This research led to combining several technologies and materials in the back cavity of the new AP irons resulting in a new Tuned Feel System to take feel to a new level. The new Tuned Feel System is a co-molded medallion of soft elastomer and aluminum plate.

All in all,You Can Feel the advanced performance,High quality, high technology design and construction featuring a forged steel body, tungsten nickel box and Tuned Feel System enhances performance and feel.

The first for the most, Titleist 2010 AP2 Irons gets the graphite and still materials, this is the key to golf itself. In my opinion, the material reflect the product's quality. when I was a high school student, in the Chemistry Class,I was clear about the graphite.so there is no problem about Titleist 2012 AP2 Iron's material.

AP2 Irons Review

Titleist has always been about tradition and seem to always be going after the better player. Titleist has long used “700’’ numbers for irons for a long time. It uses 900 numbers for metal woods. The “7” stands for irons, while the “12” stands for the new model year, 2012. Acushnet says the feedback it receives during this validation process influences the design and specifications of the Titleist products available in golf shops around the world.

"The long irons are about the same size," said Chris McGinley, Titleist's vice president of golf club marketing. "But as you go through the set, we brought the blade size down. That lets us make the long irons more forgiving and the short irons more traditional."

"The overall goal was to better apply the different materials we use in the design," McGinley said. "To make both (the AP1 and AP2), in essence, more forgiving. But when you are talking about the AP2 player, he's not really looking for forgiveness. For him, iron play is all about distance control. When we can make an iron more forgiving, we're really giving the AP2 player more consistent ball speed over a larger area of the face."

When it comes to the AP2 irons, which are designed for low handicappers, McGinley says Titleist has significantly increased the club's moment of inertia (MOI) by re-positioning tungsten weight within the heads.

This Titleist 712 AP2 Irons set from Titleist Golf was designed to build upon the popularity, success, and technology of its predecessor. It has reduced sole width for improved turf performance and a new squarer profile. Turf interaction has also been improved through a re-designed leading edge with the Thin Steel Cradle. In this iron set Titleist offers the Tuned Feel System, which is a co-molded medallion of soft elastomer and aluminium plate. The tuned cavity insert has been specifically designed to improve the sound and feel of the AP2 712 Forged irons.
